Immunization
Shots may hurt slightly... but the diseases they can put off can hurt a lot more! Immunization shots, or vaccinations, are necessary. They protect against things such as measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, polio, diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (whooping cough). Immunizations are vital for adults as well as for children.
Your immune system assists your body fight germs by producing stuffs to combat them. Once it does, the immune system "keeps in mind" the germ and can fight it again. Vaccines have germs that have been killed or weakened. When given to a fit person, the vaccine triggers the immune system to respond and therefore build immunity.
Prior to vaccines, people became immune only by in fact getting a disease and surviving it. Immunizations are an easier and less perilous way to become immune.
