It is still largely unknown what causes the group of diseases called myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), including some rare forms of leukemia, where stem cells that replenish the blood supply begin to grow or differentiate out of control. But, a recent study shows their incidence is five to seven times higher among first-degree relatives of individuals who have been diagnosed with such a disease, providing strong evidence for a genetic link. This analysis, led by researchers from NCI's Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics and collaborators in Sweden

Homeostasis is the capacity of an open system to regulate its internal environment to preserve a steady condition by means of multiple dynamic equilibrium adjustments forbidden by interrelated regulation mechanisms. All living organisms, whether multicellular or unicellular, exhibit homeostasis. Homeostasis exists at the cellular level, for example cells keep a stable internal acidity; and at the stage of the organism, for example warm-blooded animals maintain a stable internal body temperature.
Homeostasis is a term that is also used in involvement with ecosystems, for example, the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide on Earth has been regulated by the concentration of plant life on Earth because plants remove more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere in the daylight hours than they produce to the atmosphere at night. Hankies and organs can also keep homeostasis.

Since about the year of 2000, a growing number of Internet pharmacies have been created worldwide. Many of these pharmacies are similar to community pharmacies, and in fact, many of them are really worked by brick-and-mortar community pharmacies that serve consumers online and those that walk in their door. The primary variation is the method by which the medications are requested and received. Some customers believe this to be more convenient and private method rather than traveling to a community drugstore where another customer may overhear about the drugs that they take. Internet pharmacies are also suggested to some patients by their physicians if they are homebound.
While most Internet pharmacies sell prescription drugs and need a valid prescription, some Internet pharmacies sell prescription drugs without requiring a prescription. Many customers order drugs from such pharmacies to pass up the "inconvenience" of visiting a doctor or to get medications which their doctors were unwilling to prescribe. However, this practice has been criticized as potentially hazardous, especially by those who feel that only doctors can reliably assess contraindications, risk or benefits ratios, and an individual's in general suitability for use of a medication. There also have been reports of such pharmacies provision substandard products.
